Downriver Golf Course is the grandfather of all courses in the Spokane area. It was built in 1916 and is a time capsule for golfers to experience a historic approach to the game. It is a beautiful, wooded green but fairly short spanning only 6,130 yards. It is not a particularly difficult course with the majority of the holes being straight, but it can be deceptive with downhill and uphill approaches. It also runs along the Spokane River, hence its name, which lends to the course’s beauty. Downriver also boasts a restaurant, a pro shop, and also offers lessons. Tee times are Monday through Thursday after 2 p.m. $27 for 18 holes and $20 for nine. Fridays, weekends, and holidays are $29 for both 18 and 9 holes. To book a tee time before 2 p.m. during the week you must call a few days in advance and to book a tee time on Fridays, the weekends, and holidays you must call at least 8 days in advance.
